Clear bike lanes = safer streets 🚲
Did you know? In Evanston, stopping or parking in a marked bike lane is prohibited under local ordinance. Bike lanes are designated travel lanes to help keep people biking safely.
Please note: Vehicles blocking a bike lane may receive a $75 citation or risk towing. Community members who observe a blocked bike lane can report it by calling 847-448-4311 or simply dialing 3-1-1 while in Evanston.
For everyone's safety, please remember:
- Bike lanes are not parking or loading zones
- Stopping “just for a minute” forces people on bikes into traffic
- Blocked bike lanes increase crash risk for everyone
- Parking in bike lanes is illegal in Evanston
Share your input at our Putting Assets to Work community meeting
Putting Assets to Work is Evanston’s community-driven effort to reimagine how City-owned properties are used. Through online tools and in-person engagement, we’re gathering ideas to guide future improvements.
Our initiative focuses on three distinct community assets, each with unique opportunities for transformation: Former Civic Center (2100 Ridge), Evanston Police and Fire Headquarters (1454 Elmwood/909 Lake), and the Noyes Cultural Arts Center (927 Noyes).
We want your input: Join us in person at our community meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Robert Crown Community Center to share your ideas. Can't make it? Share your thoughts online.
The Bridge at 909: Where artists and stories meet
The Bridge at 909 is a new exhibition program built out of a partnership with the City and Lincoln Property Company. The program pairs emerging and late-career artists from different generations, backgrounds, and lived experiences. Curated by Arts Engagement Specialist Juelle Daley, each show fosters unexpected connections, shared stories, and public dialogue about how art reflects both our differences and common experiences.
Debut exhibit: "Seen: Portraiture as Storytelling" will run February 5 through March 27 in the lobby of 909 Davis St.
Evanston Health & Human Services is offering another free flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic in an effort to expand access to community members who may face barriers to vaccination. This event is hosted in consultation with the Illinois Department of Public Health and in partnership with Chicago Internal Medicine Practice and Research (CIMPAR). Since 2021, CIMPAR has operated full-service, field-based vaccination clinics through a coordinated mobile infrastructure designed to meet the needs of schools, community partners, shelters, and public health agencies.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Robert Crown Community Center, Room B/C.
The flu and COVID-19 vaccines are free for eligible Evanston community members at this event; however, advanced registration is required.
Please note: You may register to receive both the COVID-19 and flu vaccines, or choose to receive just one. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email for the event. Please bring a copy of your confirmation email with you on the day of the event.
For more information, please call/text 847-448-8289 or email health@cityofevanston.org.
