A Message from the Health Department
Do not use ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula
The FDA is recalling all ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula products as a result of an investigation into a multi-state outbreak of infant botulism. The recall includes all unexpired lots of formula cans and single-serve “anywhere” sticks.
Action items:
-
Stop using any ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula immediately, and dispose of the product.
-
Clean any bottles or surfaces that may have come into contact with the formula.
-
If your infant has consumed this product and isn’t feeling well, seek immediate medical attention.
-
If your infant has consumed this product and is not showing symptoms, continue monitoring them, and seek medical attention if symptoms develop.
-
Most infants with infant botulism will initially develop constipation, poor feeding, loss of head control, and difficulty swallowing. Infant botulism can be fatal.
For the most up-to-date information, please visit the FDA's website. For providers who suspect infant botulism in a patient, please call the Evanston Health Department immediately via 847-448-4311 or 847-866-5000.
