Hi 2nd Ward residents,
The upcoming 2nd Ward Meeting will take place in a hybrid format on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Robert Crown Community Center in room B/C. We will discuss vital issues affecting our community and plan for a brighter future. Your participation is crucial, as your input and concerns are essential in shaping the policies that impact our neighborhood.

PAW - Putting Assets to Work Program. Come join us to learn about and contribute ideas to Evanston's Putting Assets to Work program. The City was selected to receive a grant from the Federal Department of Transportation's Build America Bureau to conduct a community-based re-visioning for both improvement and redevelopment of select City assets to drive economic development and address community needs. We want to hear your ideas for what you would want to see at the Civic Center, Police/Fire Station, and Noyes Cultural Arts Center locations.

Evanston Public Library’s Marketing & Communications Manager, Ellen Riggsbee, will join us to share updates on current events, programs, and resources available to the community. From new reading initiatives and educational workshops to upcoming cultural events, Ellen will highlight how the library continues to serve as a dynamic hub for learning, connection, and creativity.

A Joint Ward Meeting with the 2nd and 6th Wards will be held to engage with residents on the FY2026 Proposed Budget. This will be a hybrid meeting hosted at the Robert Crown Community Center, Room D.

 Fun Group Session with Students 4 Boomers
The Students 4 Boomers session brought together students from ETHS and local Foster Seniors for an afternoon of learning, laughter, and tech discovery. In the featured photo, Foster Seniors Alice and Vincent are all smiles after their one-on-one lesson with ETHS student Ariya, who did a wonderful job helping them feel more confident using their iPhones. Programs like Students 4 Boomers continue to bridge generations, empowering seniors with new technology skills while giving students the rewarding experience of sharing their knowledge with the community.
 Discovering Our Roots
Join us for a genealogy workshop, Discovering Your Roots, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., in the small meeting room.
Carol Boone of the African American Historical Genealogy Study Group of Evanston and local author Lois Farley Shuford will guide you on a journey into your past. Register online.
 Medical Mistrust Presentation
This presentation will provide a broad overview of the sometimes harmful history of healthcare in the U.S. It will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the first-floor Community Room of the Evanston Public Library. Talking Points will be racism as a health determinant, the history of eugenics, medical abuse, discrimination, and exploitation in the U.S. Register online.
