Good morning,
Check out this week's news on tennis and pickleball court improvements, Halloween season fun, recreation programs, and more.
 Tennis and Pickleball Court Update
We’re excited to share that improvements to the courts at James, Leahy, Ackerman, and Mason Parks are nearing completion. Substantial completion is scheduled for October 17.
At James Park, the project involves converting the existing six tennis courts into fifteen new pickleball courts. Meanwhile, at Leahy Park, Ackerman Park and Mason Park, the existing tennis courts are being renovated.
Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance our facilities and provide high-quality courts for everyone to enjoy.
A Perfect Fall Day at Harvest Fest

Celebrate the Grand Reopening of the Evanston Ecology Center
Join us for the grand reopening of the Evanston Ecology Center on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m. at 2024 McCormick Blvd. The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the renovated facility, and previews of upcoming programs—including the Indoor Farmers Market, a Wild Weekends animal presentation, Thanksgiving Break Camp, and more.
The City of Evanston began major renovations of the Ecology Center in 2024, the 50th anniversary of its founding. The much-needed updates modernize the building and prepare it to serve the community for the next 50 years.
Highlights of the renovation include:
- A new reception desk and waiting area
- Renovated classroom
- Updated restrooms
- Refreshed office spaces
- LEED Gold certification
- All-electric mechanical systems, making the facility zero on-site carbon emissions
Help celebrate this milestone and explore the new ways the Ecology Center will connect the community to nature.
