Evanston Woman Charged with Aggravated Discharge in Connection with June 22 Shots Fired Incident
 EVANSTON, IL - On June 22, 2025, at approximately 6:51 a.m., Evanston Police officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 2300 block of Foster Street. The investigation revealed that three masked subjects walking in the area were observed firing handguns. Three parked vehicles sustained damage as a result of gunfire. One residence was also struck by a single bullet. No injuries were reported.
The on-scene investigation led to the recovery of 23 shell casings, as well as a pistol-mounted flashlight that appeared to have separated from a handgun. The investigation also produced video footage of the offenders firing handguns. The offenders fled the area on foot after the shooting and were not located by responding officers.
The Evanston Police Department Investigative Services Division has continued to work diligently on this case since the incident occurred. Through this investigation, probable cause was established to arrest an adult female resident of Evanston, Darmia Norris, for her alleged involvement in facilitating the participation of the shooters in this case.
On July 15, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Norris was located and arrested in the 1600 block of Foster Street. She was transported to the police station, where the investigation continued. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the investigation and approved a felony charge of aggravated discharge of a weapon based on the circumstances of Norris' involvement in the offense.

Norris is not in custody at this time. She has an initial hearing scheduled for July 18, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., in room 105 of the Skokie Courthouse.
