Jamming Jean Concert- Friday June 13
Dance all night to this band’s blend of R&B, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, and Soul. With their incredible musicians and singers, they’ve been captivating audiences around the country – you don’t want to miss this free Jamming Jean concert.
Join us outside the Center in James Park on June 13 at 5:00 pm. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Cocina Azteca will be on site with authentic, traditional Aztec cuisine for purchase.
All ages are welcome to this family-friendly, community event!
Free Levy Farm Stand Fridays
Stop by the Levy Senior Center Farm Stand Fridays, June 6 - October 31, 2025, 10:00 - 11:30 am. The Farm Stand will have free, organic produce for people experiencing food insecurity. The Farm Stand is a collaboration of the Levy Senior Center Foundation, Garden Club of Evanston, Evanston Grows, and the City of Evanston. If you have a favorite recipe using fresh vegetables, please bring a copy to share. We look forward to seeing you there!
Ballet & Modern Dance are BACK at Levy

Levy Ambassadors
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Levy Ambassadors volunteer program! We’re inviting all seniors at the Levy Senior Center to join us in making a positive impact on our community. The Levy Ambassadors program is designed to connect seniors with meaningful volunteer opportunities both within our center and beyond.
Some of the volunteer roles include welcoming guests at the lobby table, assisting with fitness room orientations, and more.
If you are interested in becoming a Levy Ambassador, please fill out the form provided below. Your involvement will not only enhance the experiences of others but also offer you a sense of fulfillment and purpose

Introductory Martial Arts for Women class
Join Connelly’s Academy for an empowering Introductory Martial Arts for Women class, designed for ages 12 and up! This non-competitive Taekwondo program focuses on self-defense while fostering a safe and fun environment. Led by expert instructors Ellen Lonnquist (3rd Dan black belt) and Yesult Presto (1st Dan black belt), you’ll gain confidence, strength, and balance.

Blissful Sound Meditation
Join us on Wednesday, June 4 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for a peaceful 90-minute acoustic sound meditation with Preston Klik. Held in the Levy Senior Center courtyard, this immersive experience features soothing tones from gongs, crystal bowls, flutes, and more. This is designed to gently guide you into deep relaxation. All equipment is provided, just bring yourself.

Pinewood Derby Day: June 8
Get ready for a fun-filled day of racing, creativity, and friendly competition! We’re excited to invite you to join us for the Pinewood Derby – a fun event where you’ll get to design and build your very own wooden car to race down a long track. This event is all about creativity, teamwork, and friendly competition. Whether you’re a first-time builder or a seasoned pro, we can’t wait to see your creations and cheer you on as you race to the finish line! Register for each set of car supplies.

Get Active with Cardio Drumming
Join us at the Levy Senior Center for a high-energy Cardio Drumming class on Thurs., June 12, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. This fun workout blends drumming with cardio exercises, improving coordination, boosting heart health, and reducing stress. Open to all fitness levels. No experience needed, and equipment is provided. Registration is required and space is limited! Discover the joy of drumming and fitness in one amazing class.

Introduction to Mindfulness
Join us at the Levy Senior Center for Introduction to Mindfulness, a weekly class designed to help you slow down, breathe, and reconnect. Certified mindfulness instructor Patti Vick will guide participants through meditation practices that promote self-compassion and stress relief. Open to all experience levels.

June Science with Seniors
Each month, graduate students from Northwestern University visit the Levy Senior Center to discuss different science topics. This month, they will discuss the topic of Light Driven Chemistry and The Future of Computing. Learn how we can control chemical reactions with light on Thurs., June 12, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required by calling the Levy front desk at 847-448-8250.
Summer Sound Meditation: June 13
Join sound meditation facilitator and musician Jay Taylor for an hour-long immersive experience in the Levy Center courtyard. Lie back and relax as you listen to the singing bowls. The session will begin with a brief introduction and some light guided breathing. Following the meditation, the instructor will share some final thoughts on the experience. No prior experience or skills are required. Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, and pillow (if you would like), to make yourself comfortable during this program.

Levy Lecture: 'Momma Kemba' Portrays Ida B. Wells
Join Levy Senior Center Foundation on Thursday, June 26, at 1:30 – 3:00 pm in person at the Levy Senior Center or via Zoom for the special hybrid Levy Lecture: ‘Momma Kemba’ Portrays Ida B. Wells in celebration of Juneteenth. Storyteller ‘Momma Kemba’ will present a fully costumed, dramatic portrayal of one of Chicago’s most infamous historical figures, Ida B. Wells. This hybrid Levy Lecture is free to attend, but advance registration is required. Visit lscfevanston.org to register.
July Senior Trip: Chicago Architecture Tour
Join us for a day of exploring Chicago’s world-renowned architecture on Thurs., July 24. This full-day trip includes a guided tour of the city’s most innovative and iconic skyscrapers with lunch included. Register by June 27. Scholarships are available through the Dennis Newton Fund.
