Suspect Arrested in Wine Goddess, La Principal Incidents
 EVANSTON, IL - Evanston police have made an arrest in two overnight incidents that occurred early Monday morning at two local businesses on Main Street.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on April 28, officers responded to a burglar alarm at The Wine Goddess, located in the 700 block of Main St. Upon arrival, officers observed the front glass door shattered but still in place. No entry appeared to have been made into the business, and no items were reported stolen.
The business owner arrived on the scene and informed officers that there was potentially surveillance footage that captured the incident. The owner estimated the cost of the door repair at approximately $2,500.
On April 28, at approximately 6:30 a.m., an officer responded to La Principal restaurant, located at 700 Main St., for a report of a burglary that had occurred overnight. The officer spoke to the owner and reviewed surveillance footage that showed the offender breaking the window, entering the business, and taking four bottles of tequila. The suspect fled the scene.
The Evanston Police Detective Bureau investigated these incidents. The investigation led to the identity of the offender, Hector Perez-Moctezuma. Detectives learned that Perez-Moctezuma had been arrested by the Chicago Police Department on an outstanding arrest warrant on April 28, after these two incidents, and that Perez-Moctezuma was in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff.
On April 30, detectives arrested Perez-Moctezuma at the Cook County Jail and transported him to the Evanston Police Department for further investigation. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the investigation and approved one felony count of criminal damage to property for the incident at The Wine Goddess and one felony count of burglary for the incident at La Principal.
