Over the next several weeks, the City will be contracting dredging services for the Church Street Boat Launch, located at 1647 Sheridan Rd. Each spring, the City hires a contractor to remove sand that accumulates inside the harbor and at its mouth. This annual dredging ensures the launch is accessible and safe for use by early May. In addition to being used by boat permit holders, the ramp also supports critical City operations, including emergency water rescues, aquatic camps, and sailing programs.
Weather permitting, dredging is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 28, and is expected to be completed by Friday, May 9. The work may cause minor disruptions for users of Centennial Park and the Dog Beach. For your safety, please use caution around the boat ramp and keep a safe distance from construction equipment. Two heavy construction vehicles will be temporarily parked overnight in the Church Street Boat Launch parking lot throughout the duration of the project. Parking restrictions are not expected along Sheridan Road.
Below is a map showing the dredging and sand deposit areas. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain safe and accessible lakefront facilities for all.
