Evanston Launches First Saturday Free Three-Hour Parking Pilot Program to Support Local Businesses
Beginning Saturday, April 5, and continuing on the first Saturday of every month through the end of the year, metered parking will be free from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
EVANSTON, IL - On Monday, March 31, the Evanston City Council passed a resolution establishing a First Saturday Free Three-Hour Parking Pilot Program to make it easier for community members to access local businesses and support economic development. Beginning Saturday, April 5, and continuing on the first Saturday of every month through the end of the year, metered parking will be free from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
During these designated hours, parking meters will not require payment, and a message will be displayed on the ParkEvanston app to inform drivers. No codes or special actions will be needed; simply park and enjoy Evanston’s vibrant business districts.
Please note: The free parking offer applies only to metered parking spaces and does not include parking garages or lots. Parking outside of these hours will be subject to standard rates.
The first Saturday of each month was chosen to align with Evanston Made’s First Saturday Art Events, further encouraging residents and visitors to explore and engage with the local arts and business community.
