Good morning,
At approximately 10:10 a.m., a work crew conducting work on private property in the 2600 block of Lawndale Avenue struck a gas line, causing a leak and a noticeable odor. However, there is no danger to the public. Nicor Gas and the Evanston Fire Department are on the scene, and repairs are expected to take a few hours. Lawndale Avenue is closed between Hartzell Street and Park Place. Please avoid the area.
