Good morning,
Check out this week's Parks & Recreation e-news featuring information on Robert Crown ice sheets update, registration for Camp and Spring programs, free Black History Month events, and more
Robert Crown Ice Sheets Closed Due to Unexpected Mechanical Failure
The two ice sheets at the Robert Crown Community Center, located at 1801 Main Street, are currently closed due to an unexpected mechanical failure. This issue arose during routine maintenance performed by an outside vendor, which led to the loss of both ice sheets. As a result, it is impossible to maintain the necessary freezing temperatures for the ice. Unfortunately, creating new ice is expected to take several weeks, and this disruption is likely to affect ice programming through March.
Parks and Recreation staff are proactively informing all hockey clubs and organizations of the mechanical failure and canceling all scheduled events and activities related to the ice sheets.
During this time, patrons can still access the walking track, other programming, and other non-ice facilities, which will operate according to their regularly scheduled hours.
We are collaborating with outside vendors to address and rectify this situation promptly. Our goal is to ensure that repairs are completed quickly so that all scheduled programming may resume as soon as conditions permit. Thank you for your understanding and support as we resolve this issue. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
We apologize for any inconvenience this closure might cause and will provide updates as they become available.
