The Parks and Recreation Department has made the tough decision to close the Dog Beach due to safety concerns caused by ice shelves. In the past 24 hours, newly formed ice shelves have appeared along the beach, posing potential risks.
If your dog accidentally ventures onto an ice shelf at any time in the winter season, please do not attempt to retrieve them yourself, as this could also put you at risk. Instead, call 911 immediately for assistance. The primary concern is the safety of both pets and their owners during the winter season. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure everyone's safety. The Parks and Recreation Department will reopen the Dog Beach once it is deemed safe.
Thank you,
The Evanston Parks and Recreation Team
