Due to a water main break that occurred in Skokie yesterday, February 14, early morning.
The precautionary Water Boil Order remains in effect for residents in Northwest Evanston until further notice. This measure ensures the safety of our drinking water and allows time for sufficient testing.
Water Testing and Water Pressure
The City’s Water Production Bureau is actively testing the water supply to ensure its safety and quality. Currently, there is no evidence that Evanston's water system has been contaminated due to the water main break in Skokie.
The map below details in red the areas that remain under a precautionary boil order. If your location is not marked in red, you may still experience fluctuations in water pressure due to the ongoing impacts; however, rest assured that the water in your area has been confirmed safe for all uses. Reduced water pressure is a common occurrence in these situations.
The City’s water pressure has shown significant improvement over the past 24 hours, and we are confident that the issues related to water pressure are gradually subsiding. Thank you for your continued patience.
