2025 Season Begins March 1
EVANSTON, IL - The Evanston Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the Evanston Dog Beach will officially open for the 2025 season on Saturday, March 1.
Located just south of Clark Street Beach (1811 Sheridan Rd.), the dog beach is open seasonally from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. All patrons must have a valid dog beach pass to enter.
Purchasing a Dog Beach Pass
Dog beach passes will be available in person beginning Monday, February 19 on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:
-
Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave.
-
Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St.
-
Chandler-Newberger Community Center, 1028 Central St.
-
Prieto Community Center, 430 Asbury Ave.
-
Robert Crown Community Center, 1801 Main St. (Dog beach passes available from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily at Robert Crown only)
Dog beach passes are free for residents (zip codes 60201 and 60202 only) and cost $200 for the first dog and $75 for the second dog for non-residents. Individuals must bring a completed vaccination verification form for their pet.
Effective Saturday, March 1, the gate code will be changed to a new combination. Dog beachgoers should note that the 2024 combination will no longer grant access. If a 2024 pass holder attempts to enter, access will not be possible until the 2025 pass is renewed.
This year, the City is launching a redesigned pass and process. As part of this update, patrons will now be required to wear a breakaway lanyard and pass while at the Dog Beach.
“This new measure ensures that all users have been properly vetted and approved to enjoy this beloved amenity,” said Lakefront and Athletic Division Manager Tim Carter. “We’d like to remind everyone that it remains important not to share gate codes or allow access to non-approved users.”

Cook County ordinance requires the City of Evanston to verify vaccination records and municipal pet licenses before issuing a dog beach pass.
