 |
EVANSTON, IL - Applications are currently being accepted for the Spanish Language Community Police Academy’s upcoming Spring 2025 session. Have you ever wanted to learn more about how the police department works? Perhaps you are interested in a career in law enforcement? Or maybe you would just like to be more civically engaged? If so, the Community Police Academy is a great opportunity for you! The spring session will meet biweekly for 6 classes on Thursday evenings, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., February 27 through May 8, 2025, with a graduation ceremony Tuesday, May 20.
This program is facilitated by members of the Evanston Police Department, presented completely in Spanish, and covers a wide range of topics specific to the Evanston community and department. The program gives participants an opportunity to truly engage with officers and take a closer look at policing as it relates to the community that we proudly serve. The program is presented in a classroom-style setting combined with a variety of interactive, hands-on activities, such as a mock crime scene, traffic stops, and scenario-based training. Topics covered include criminal investigations, traffic procedures, court procedures, and more.
The program is free and open to those that live or work in Evanston. The deadline to apply is February 26, 2025. Apply for the Spring 2025 session.
