Evanston's new ward boundaries will take effect on May 12
After extensive community engagement, the Evanston City Council approved the City's first new ward map in 20 years in June 2023.
When does the new map take effect? The new ward boundaries will apply for the spring 2025 General Consolidated Election and are reflected on the County Clerk’s “Find Your Polling Place” tool. For City services, the updated boundaries will not take effect until after the election on April 1 and the swearing-in of the 82nd City Council on May 12. Learn more.
Compare ward maps: View the current and new ward boundaries side-by-side using the interactive Ward Redistricting app.
Fire safety reminders from EFD 🔥
Due to current breezy conditions with winds from the west-northwest at 10 to 20 mph, the Evanston Fire Department reminds residents to exercise caution with open flames.
Safety reminders:
-
Construction sites: Avoid using open flames near combustible materials.
-
Fire pits: Ensure they are placed safely away from structures, never leave fires unattended, and fully extinguish them after use.
-
Chimney maintenance: Schedule regular cleanings to prevent hazardous buildup.
-
Debris management: Keep yards and construction areas clear of dry leaves, wood, and other flammable materials.
Let's work together to keep Evanston safe during these windy conditions.
