Description
Over the next six to eight weeks, the City will be undertaking important water main improvements on Girard Avenue, stretching from Isabella Street to the North City Limits. This initiative encompasses the replacement of water mains and water service lines, as well as minor sewer upgrades. The City will also address any necessary repairs to the concrete curbs and sidewalks, along with trench patching and parkway restoration.
The project also includes the replacement of lead service lines for property owners who have signed a right-of-entry (ROE) form. For those property owners who choose not to participate, the water service line will be replaced up to the parkway, and a waiver will be requested.
Schedule
Work is expected to begin within the next three weeks. The exact start dates for construction activities will be posted on temporary “No Parking” signs at least 48 hours in advance. Please note that construction will not occur continuously throughout the entire project due to requirements for testing, inspection, and work sequencing. Site activity levels will vary each week.
If you have submitted a signed Right of Entry (ROE) form and your home has a lead service line, a representative from the contractor will contact you during the water main improvements to schedule a time to enter your home and discuss the replacement of your lead service line.
Parking
Parking will be prohibited during daytime work hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. while construction takes place. Street sweeping parking restrictions will be waived for a one block radius around the construction zone when temporary daytime no parking is in effect. Every effort will be made to complete the work in a timely manner to minimize any inconveniences caused by the construction.
Contractor
The contractor for this project is Joel Kennedy Constructing Corp. located at 2830 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657.
