Joliet Man Charged with Aggravated UUW
EVANSTON, IL - On January 19, at approximately 11 p.m., Evanston police officers were on routine patrol in the Main Street Commons located in the 2400 block of Main Street when they observed a red Hyundai parked and running in the parking lot after the area businesses were closed. Based on this observation, officers approached the Hyundai and its driver and sole occupant, Aquan Green.
When officers investigated, Green stated he was resting in the vehicle while working as an Uber driver. During the encounter, officers learned Green possessed a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card but did not have a Concealed Carry License (CCL). Green informed officers that he had a handgun in the vehicle. Officers had Green exit the vehicle and recovered a loaded and uncased Glock 9 mm from between the driver’s seat and the center console. Additional ammunition, including a loose round and a box of 9mm rounds, was recovered from the vehicle.
Green was taken into custody without incident and transported to the station where the investigation continued. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the investigation and approved one felony count of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon.
