 New Year holiday schedule changes
The Morton Civic Center and most City facilities will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, for the observed New Year's holiday. View holiday service changes and facility schedules.
Trash and recycling pickup: No collections will occur on January 1. If the holiday falls on or before your collection day, services are expected to be postponed by one day.
 Light up the season: Hanukkah & Kwanzaa events
Celebrate Kwanzaa: Join us for a Kwanzaa Kinara Lighting tonight, Dec. 26, at 5:30 p.m. outside the Robert Crown Community Center. Celebrate “Umoja” (Unity) with remarks by Councilmember Harris, followed by “A Legacy Kwanzaa Celebration” in the gym. Enjoy a Drum Circle, Kwanzaa ceremony, NAJWA Dance Corps, vendors, food, and family fun!
Menorah Lighting Ceremony: Join Tannenbaum Chabad House tonight, Dec. 26, at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate Hanukkah and ignite a public 10-ft. menorah at Fountain Square. The celebration will feature greetings from Mayor Biss, live music, an LED robot dancer, and more.
 There's life after the holidays for trees and lights!
What to do with holiday trees: City crews will pick up holiday trees for recycling on Monday, Jan. 6, through Thursday, Jan. 16, on residents' regular refuse pickup days. View tree pickup guidelines.
What to do with burned-out bulbs: Holiday string lighting and extension cords can be dropped off for recycling at the Levy Center and Robert Crown Community Center through January 31.
 Explore summer camp options on January 10
Join our Parks & Recreation team for a Summer Camp Open House at the Levy Senior Center on January 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This free event will feature info sessions, activities for kids, giveaways, raffles, and more! Explore camp options before registration opens for residents on February 1.

Free parking continues through January 1
The City's "Holiday Parking: Free for 2024" promotion continues through January 1, 2025. Community members and visitors to Evanston can enjoy up to two hours of free parking using the code "Holiday2024" on the Park Evanston app.

CTA restores bus service to pre-pandemic levels
Nineteen bus routes are receiving additional service under the winter schedule, as the CTA continues to add more bus operators. View routes with services increases.
