Search Warrant Execution on Lyons Street

Earlier today, the Evanston Police Department, with assistance from the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS), executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1800 block of Lyons Street. This operation resulted in a significant and visible police presence in the area during the execution and subsequent search.

The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation, and additional details will be released in a press release by the department early next week. In the meantime, the Evanston Police Department would like to address some community concerns and provide clarification:

• This incident did not involve a barricaded subject, and there was and is no active safety concern to the community. 

• The Evanston Police Department is not searching for any suspects or offenders at this time. 

• This police activity was not connected in any way to Evanston Township High School.
