Invitation: Custer Ave. Development Open House Meeting on Saturday
Hello friends,
As you may be aware, a multifamily residential development has been proposed for the former site of Dard Manufacturing on 910 to 938 Custer Avenue by the same team that did the new Tapestry Station on Main Street.
I invited the developers to present their plans to the community at the 4th Ward meeting back in July. In case you missed it, you can find their presentation from that meeting here.
I’m also planning another round of community engagement with an open house-style meeting this weekend:
- Saturday, November 2
- 10 a.m. to noon
- Tapestry Station Co-Working Space (740 Main Street)
Please feel free to drop by to learn more about the project, ask questions, and share concerns.
Both of these neighborhood meetings are in addition to the formally required meeting of the Land Use Commission, which unanimously approved this proposal on October 9. The packet from that meeting is here.
After the 11/2 open house meeting, the next steps in the process are planned as follows:
- 11/11 - Planning and Development Committee, 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center
- 11/11 - City Council introduction (1st vote), 6 p.m. at the Civic Center
- 11/25 - City Council final vote, 6 p.m. at the Civic Center
Meanwhile, other upcoming dates:
November Ward Meeting Thursday, November 7, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. South End Community Center at Oakton and Asbury (formerly Little Beans) This will be a joint meeting with Ward 3 (Melissa Wynne) and Ward 9 (Juan Geracaris) focusing on the 2025 budget
(No meeting on Tuesday, 11/5)
November Office Hours Saturday, November 9, 10 a.m. to noon Berry Pike Café, 1100 Davis St.
Hope to see you soon!
