 Winter Registration Opening Soon
Registration for our Winter programs will open for residents on Nov. 11 and for non-residents on Nov. 18. The program guide will be available on Nov. 4 to help you plan in advance of registration.
You still can register for fall programs!
Evanston is officially opening its cafe at the Arrington Lagoon shelter building on Saturday, Oct. 26. It will provide service on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Staff will be serving coffee, soft drinks and food concessions. We'll be expanding days and times, as well as food and drink options, in the near future. Stop by the concession window this weekend!
Evanston is hosting several Halloween-related activities. Whether your child likes scary stuff or prefers friendly monsters, we offer event for every age and fear tolerance. Check out upcoming activities below.
 Trunk or Treat: October 25
Join us at Robert Crown for Trunk or Treat, a free event that invites all ages to collect treats from Halloween-themed vehicles. The event also features face painting and music.

 Family Pumpkin Carving: October 25
Looking for a fun, Halloween-themed night out with the family? Bring your creativity and we’ll supply the pumpkin! Carving tools and templates are provided but feel free to bring your own. Please register one person per family. Each family will receive a pumpkin to carve. If you would like additional pumpkins, register an additional family member.

 Nightmare on Foster Street: October 25
Nightmare on Foster is the best haunted house in town! Join us for a night of candy, fun, spooks, and scares.

 Bug-a-Boo: October 26
Our annual Halloween event will highlight the creatures that call Evanston home. Learn fun facts and amazing adaptations of animals that live right here in Evanston. You’ll meet these characters outside as you travel around Lovelace Park. Then enjoy s'mores around the campfire and Halloween-themed games. After your adventure, we’ll send you on your way with a fun craft to do at home.

 Halloween Public Skate: October 26
Ghouls on ice! Show up in costume for our Halloween Public Skate on Oct. 26 from 12:30 - 2 p.m.

 Art Installation Unveiling: October 25
Evanston will unveil two major art installations on Friday, Oct. 25 at 12:30 p.m. at 927 Noyes Street. We'll be introducing a sculpture by artists Andy Bellow and Creaser Perez and a mural by POSE. The event is free and open to all.
 Until the Flood: October 26 - November 10
Pulitzer Prize playwright finalist Dael Orlandersmith explores the social uprising in Ferguson, Missouri, following the police shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown in 2014.

 Advocacy & Fraud Prevention for Seniors: October 30

 Wild Weekends: November 2
Snakes, tarantulas, and scaly lizards...oh my! Face your fears next Saturday, as we meet 10 amazing animals that have inspired monster movies. During the Halloween season, these amazing and beneficial animals can get a bad rap, so we will meet these misunderstood creatures and learn why it’s important to protect them. To register, please call the Ecology Center at (847) 448-8256 or enroll online. Children must be accompanied with a registered adult.

 Dia de los Muertos: November 3
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at the Levy Center. This event features a performance from the Trabuco Salsa Band, art stations to make ofrendas, and other crafts.

 Nature Excursions with Boat: November 5
Hop on the Bus for Outdoor Access & Teaching! Join BOAT and Ecology Center staff for a nature excursion to Illinois public lands. We have partnered with BOAT and U.S. Forest Service to provide these excursions free of charge. Meals and snacks are provided on the trip.

 Family Trivia Night: November 15
Challenge your brain to a night of family trivia! Enjoy pizza with friends and family while answering questions for all ages. The top teams will win prizes. Limit 6 people per team. Register one person per team.

 Newsies Jr.: November 22-24
Evanston Children’s Theatre presents Disney’s “Newsies Jr.,” with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein. Everyone who auditions gets a part. Performances will be Nov. 22-24. For information, call 847-448-8263 or email ect@cityofevanston.org.

Evanston has survived another Zombie attack! Brave Evanstonians successfully battled a Zombie army on October 19 and have restored safety to the community! Thanks to all who participated in our annual Zombie Scramble.
 Critter Visit and Play
Kids love animals and animals love kids! Bring them together at our Ecology Critter Visit & Play at South End Community Center. For information, call (847) 448-8256.
 Let's Play: Drop-in Play at South End Center
South End Community Center is now offering Let's Play Drop In on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., as well as Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.. Cost is $15 per child for residents and $10 for each additional child. Cost is $20 for non-residents and $15 for each additional child.
 Time Together Open Play: Birth to 5 Years
An open-play program is perfect for ages birth through 5 years with a parent or caregiver. Our spaces are full of climbing equipment, blocks, soft mats, puzzles and a book nook. Time Together is the perfect place to bring preschoolers on no-school days and to play with little ones while older siblings are in school. Drop-in fee is $12 per child or buy a 10-visit punch pass for $100.
 Middle School Open Gym
The South End Community Center will host an open gym for middle schoolers beginning on October 1. Open gym will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The cost for drop-in play is $5.
 School Day Off Sports Camp
Station style instruction along with multiple games a day are sure to keep campers engaged and active on their day off school. Register now.
 Snapology School Day Off Camps
Snapology’s STEAM programs teach through building. Using LEGO® bricks, K’Nex and technology, kids have fun while they learn! Children are meant to learn through play. When children are actively engaged in hands-on, interactive learning activities, their creativity flourishes and they show a greater interest in school. At Snapology we help your child grow up with a thirst for knowledge. Register now.
 Robert Crown Day Off School
The Robert Crown Day Off School offers field trips, activities, ice skating and more from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on this fall. Each day will have a different fall theme. Activities will include visits with field trips, crafts, games and outside time. Register now.
 After School Adventure
The After School Adventure program at Robert Crown Community Center offers a wealth of activities from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Mondays - Fridays and from 11:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. on school improvement days. To register, call 847-448-5949.
