 Enjoy: Halloween! Ways to celebrate in Evanston
Halloween may just be our favorite holiday of the year. You can choose to keep it light: decorating your front porch with mums, enjoying pumpkin lattes, and collecting candy with friends, or dive straight into the world of ghost stories and haunted houses. To help you get into the spirit, we’ve collected a few of our favorite upcoming events around town.
Saturday, Oct. 5 | Costume Swap | 1-3 p.m. Hosted by the City of Evanston at Noyes Cultural Arts Center Bring in all of the old costumes that you’ve outgrown and help them find a new life. Learn More.
Saturday: Oct. 12 | Pumpkin Painting at Shower Blooms | 12-3 p.m. Hosted by Shower Blooms at 1917 Central Street Join Shower Blooms for some pumpkin decorating and family-friendly fun to soak up the season. Learn More.
Saturday, October 19 | Zombie Scramble | Starting at 5 p.m.Hosted by the City of Evanston at Ladd ArboretumLace up your shoes and prepare for a run like no other in a city overtaken by zombies! Sat., Oct. 19 | Kid’s Fall Festival at Mack’s Bike and Goods | 1-3 p.m. Hosted by Mack’s Bike and Goods at 2948 Central Street It’s good old-fashioned fun at Mack’s Bikes. Enjoy face painting, pumpkin decorating, and games at this fall fest. Learn More.
Friday, Oct. 25 | Trunk or Treat | 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Hosted by City of Evanston at Robert Crown Community Center Get ready for a frightfully fun afternoon at the City of Evanston Parks and Recreation Trunk or Treat event! Bring your little ghouls and goblins for a safe and exciting Halloween experience filled with decorated trunks, delicious treats, and festive fun. Stroll around Downtown and stop in at participating businesses for candy and other Halloween goodies. Meet up at Fountain Square to pick up your official Trick-or-Treat Stroll map and get started. Enjoy Evanston's Hispanic and Latin American Food Scene!
What better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month than with food! Among the many amazing Hispanic-owned and Latin American-owned eateries in Evanston, The Daily Northwestern recently highlighted three amazing restaurants and shared fun history about their journey. Read the full article.
This list is certainly not exhaustive, and there are many more to check out - and enter a raffle while you're at it! Now through Oct. 15, patrons will be able to visit the library to pick up a punch card, choose at least 5 participating local Hispanic-owned and Latin American-owned businesses to visit, and either make a purchase or talk to staff to learn about their business for a punch. When their punch card is full, they can be entered into a raffle for one (1) $100, one (1) $75, or one (1) $25 gift card from one of the featured businesses.
 Get Artsy with Evanston Made's Big Art Weekend
Peruse handmade goods: Check out the Maker's Market in Downtown Evanston on Sun., Oct. 6, from noon to 5 p.m. Head to the 5th Floor of the Maple Avenue Parking Garage to shop hundreds of unique and one-of-a-kind, handmade goods. Plus, enjoy free art-making and artist demos.
Tour artists' studios: Participate in Evanston Made's annual Studio Tour on Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m. Explore artists' studios, meet artists, learn about their work, and start your art collection during this self-guided tour opportunity. View a list of participating artists.
First Saturday Art Events: Explore Evanston's art scene with a free self-guided tour Evanston’s creative community. See art on display and for sale at venues across town. Shop for art and handmade goods, meet small business owners, learn to sketch, and more! Find participating venues and artists, as well as a map, to plan your day!
 'Empowering Small Businesses' Workshop Series
Please join us Wednesday, October 9 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for the next workshop in our "Empowering Small Businesses" series. This workshop will feature two presenters who will help you navigate and make the most of the digital marketing landscape. Attendees of this workshop will learn about two important topics:

Tomatae Fresh Kitchen | Noyes | 914 Noyes Street A few taps on your phone and you’ve got the most delicious tacos, gorditas, and burritos. Don’t skip out on a horchata or any of the fresh, seasonal drinks. Order online and pick up at the window on your way to campus.
Foster Deli | Maple Foster | 831 Foster Street Sometimes a simple sandwich can keep you from feeling homesick. Stock up on your favorite snacks while you wait.
