 EVANSTON, IL - Early voting for the November 5 Presidential Election will take place on Monday, October 21 through Monday, November 4 at the Morton Civic Center, Room G-300 (Ground Floor), 2100 Ridge Ave.
Residents can register to vote at all early voting sites. Visit the Cook County Clerk's website for a complete list of locations. Any voter who needs to register for the first time or file an address change must present two forms of ID, one of which shows the voter's current address.
Week One Monday, October 21 - Saturday, October 26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Week Two Monday, October 28 - Friday, November 1, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Week Three Monday, November 4, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Vote By Mail
How to Apply Residents can apply to vote by mail online or by calling the Cook County Clerk's Office at 312-603-5656. Once an application is received and registration verified, a paper ballot will be sent to the address designated on the application. The deadline to apply is five days before the election.
Those who applied online for a mail-in ballot for the Primary Election in will automatically received a ballot for the General Election. Those who applied by paper application must re-apply.
Permanent Vote By Mail Cook County is now offering Permanent Vote By Mail. This option will allow residents to vote by mail in all subsequent elections held in Cook County. Voters will still have the option to vote by mail in a single election if they choose.

By mail: Mail-in ballots should be mailed or delivered to the Cook County Clerk’s Office.

Through a secure drop box: Cook County Elections is once again offering suburban Cook County voters convenient option of returning mail ballots using mail ballot drop boxes.
All questions related to mail-in ballots, voter registration status, or ballot status should be directed to the Cook County Clerk's Office.
Election Day Voting
On Primary Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., residents should go to their registered polling location to vote.
Election Day Registration and Voting
On Election Day, voters who are not registered to vote can register and vote at their home precinct only. Any voter who is not registered and needs to know where to go to register and vote on Election Day can utilize the Clerk’s online Your Voter Information Tool to find their proper polling place by address or birthday.
To register, voters must be:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years old by the primary election
- A resident of their precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day
Any voter registering for the first time or filing an address change or name change must present two forms of ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Illinois Driver's license
- Illinois State ID
- Employee or Student ID
- Credit card
- Social security card
- Birth certificate
- Utility bill in applicant's name
- Mail postmarked to the applicant
- Valid U.S. passport
- Public aid ID card
- Lease or Rental contract
