8th Ward Meeting, September 26
Dear 8th Ward Residents,
Please join me at the upcoming 8th Ward meeting, where we will discuss important community matters and provide an opportunity for open dialogue.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, September 26, at 6:30 p.m. You can attend in person at the Robert Crown Community Center in room B/C or virtually.

Planning & Interim Housing Grants Manager Elizabeth Williams will discuss updates to the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning changes.

The Communicable Disease Team will present important information on disease spread in our community and how together we can fight it.

Water Production Bureau Chief Darrell King will discuss Lead Service Lines replacement.
The 8th Ward Meetings are an excellent opportunity to engage with your local and state representatives, ask questions, and learn more about the issues that matter to you. Your participation and input are vital to our community's success, and I look forward to seeing you there.

Twenty high school students in Evanston have advanced to the semifinalist round of the National Merit scholarship program! Evanston Township High School's class of 2025 has the school's highest number of National Merit scholarship semifinalists in a decade. Read more.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) is a great way to honor the rich cultural contributions of Latinx people. Check out some fun ways to celebrate all month:
Hispanic/Latinx-Owned Business Month: From September 15 to October 15, library patrons are invited to pick up a punch card and explore at least five participating Latinx/Hispanic-owned businesses to be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a gift card.
 Bicycle Access Voucher applications are open
Applications are open for the City’s new Bicycle Access Voucher Pilot through September 23. This program will provide income-qualified residents with vouchers to purchase bicycles, e-bikes, adaptive bicycles, accessories, and maintenance from local bike shops. Program participants can also access free training sessions to learn safe cycling and maintenance skills.
Applications are available online and in person. The program team is available by email at bikes@cityofevanston.org or by calling 311 to apply in person, ask questions, or receive application support.
