Evanston Police Make Arrests in Recent Shootings
 EVANSTON, IL
FIRST SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
On August 5, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., Evanston Police responded to a call reporting two individuals had been shot in the 1700 block of Dempster Street. Upon arrival, officers located two males who had sustained gunshot wounds: a 41-year-old male and a 50-year-old male, both residents of Evanston. Both victims were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.
The investigation has led to charges against the 41-year-old male, Sean Gayle. The investigation revealed Gayle was in possession of a loaded handgun, a Ruger LCP 380, when the shooting occurred. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the investigation and approved a felony charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
The investigation revealed that Gayle and the second male shot each other as part of an ongoing dispute.

Court Information:
Gayle remains in police custody at an area hospital.
SECOND SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
On August 6, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., Evanston Police responded to a call of a male who had been shot in the area of Dempster Street and Darrow Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 34-year-old male resident of Evanston, who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
The investigation led to the identification of an offender, Jerell Williams. On August 7, Williams was arrested by Evanston detectives in the 100 block of Dodge and transported to the station for further investigation.
The Cook County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the investigation, which included video of the shooting itself, and approved a felony charge of attempt first degree murder.

Williams will appear in bond court later today at the Skokie Courthouse.
THIRD SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
On August 6, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue for a report of a male who had been shot. Upon arrival, they located a 50-year-old male who had been shot in the hand. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
The initial investigation into the 1700 block of Dodge incident indicates that the individual accidentally shot himself in the hand at an unknown location and went to a residence on Dodge seeking aid.
