 End-of-season schedule for Evanston beaches
With the return of seasonal lifeguards and beach staff to school, the City has adjusted end-of-season beach operations to ensure proper staffing for public safety. Beginning Monday, Greenwood Street Beach will be the only beach open to swimming for the remainder of the season during the hours of 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Aug. 12 - 30) and 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Aug. 31 - Sept. 2).
 2025 Wheel Tax payments are now available 🚗
The payment period has now opened for Evanston residents to pay for their City of Evanston wheel tax, residential parking permits, and residential parking passes for 2025. Payments can be made online, in person, or by mail. The deadline to pay the 2025 wheel tax is September 30. Learn more about the wheel tax.
 Plan out your fall fun with Parks & Rec!
Evanston's Parks and Recreation Fall Program Guide is now available online. From the Zombie Scramble to sports programming and nature-based play, we have tons of fall fun in store! Registration opens on Monday, August 12 for residents and on August 19 for non-residents. Dive into the guide and start planning your fall schedule today.
 Appeal your property taxes by August 20
Evanston property owners concerned about their property taxes can submit an appeal to the Cook County Board of Review through August 20, 2024.
File an appeal online: Property owners are encouraged to file an appeal on their own online at cookcountyboardofreview.com. Filing online is a simple and quick process. View a video tutorial.
Appeal assistance: Those seeking assistance filing an appeal should submit an Appeal Authorization form by August 16 to have their appeal filed on their behalf or should attend an in-person property tax appeal event in the Parasol Room of the Morton Civic Center on Mon., Aug. 12, at 6 p.m.
 Support Main Street businesses
Construction continues on Main Street, promising rehabbed roadways, updated streetscaping, sidewalk improvements, enhanced ADA accessibility, and more later this fall. In the meantime, get out and show your support to local Main Street businesses who need the extra TLC.
Did someone say "free parking"? As a reminder, up to four hours of free parking is available in Lot 24, located near the corner of Main Street and Sherman Avenue, as indicated by signage.
