![Independence Day](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/ILEVANSTON/2014/07/318748/july4-switcher_original.jpg) EVANSTON, IL - The City of Evanston announces service and facility schedules for the Independence Day holiday, Thursday, July 4.
Refuse Collection Normal collections will occur Wednesday, July 3 and Friday, July 5. No collections will occur Thursday, July 4. After Wednesday, all collections will be a day behind.
Facilities The Morton Civic Center and all City community centers, recreation facilities, and Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on Thursday, July 4. The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be open on July 4 for Independence Day activities from 9 a.m. to noon.
311 Center Evanston’s 311 Center will be open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. Hours will be extended as need.
Beaches Evanston beaches, including Greenwood, Lighthouse, Lee Street and South Boulevard, will be open for swimming on Thursday, July 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Clark Street Beach will be open on July 3 from 10:30 a.m. to noon and closed the remainder of the day for fireworks display setup. Clark Street Beach will also be closed on July 4.
The Evanston Dog Beach will open from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on July 4.
The Church Street Boat Launch will close to traffic at 2 p.m. on July 4 and reopen after the fireworks show.
Parking Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on Thursday, July 4. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored.
Independence Day Celebration The Evanston Fourth of July Association will host their annual celebration including a parade at 2 p.m. on Central Street, a Kids' Fun Run, a concert by the Palatine Concert Band, fireworks at the lakefront, and more!
