Old Glenview Road resurfacing project to begin the week of June 3

The Village of Wilmette & the City of Evanston, in coordination with the Illinois Department of  Transportation, will be undertaking a crucial road resurfacing project on Old Glenview Road from Skokie Boulevard to Wilmette  Avenue in the Village of Wilmette. A section of Old Glenview Road, as indicated on the map, falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Evanston.

Road and Curb Improvements

This significant project involves curb replacement as needed, accessible ADA ramps at the intersections, pavement patching, and replacement of asphalt surface from curb to curb, along with the roadway striping.  

Impact

The Sidewalk access will be limited at times during sidewalk removal and replacement. One side of the street will be completed at a time, while the opposite side remains open. 'Sidewalk Closed' signs will be placed during sidewalk replacement as well as 'Fresh Oil' signs prior to the asphalt paving operations. The Old Glenview Road Resurfacing Project is partially funded by the State of Illinois through a program administered by its Department of  Transportation (IDOT). Therefore, IDOT requirements, standards, processes, and schedules must be adhered to and followed.

Schedule of Work

Construction for this project is scheduled to begin the week of June 3 and is expected to be fully completed by the first week of  September 2024. While the construction activities may cause some inconveniences for abutting residents and businesses, the City assures community members that it will make every effort to minimize these inconveniences. Please note that street sweeping and/or neighborhood parking restrictions may be waived for a one-block radius around the construction zone when temporary daytime NO PARKING is in effect.

The Village of Wilmette has retained Thomas Engineering to monitor the project. Contractor

The contractor for this roadway project is Peter Baker & Sons, located at 1349 Rockland Road, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
