City Contracts Evanston Service Center Fuel Island Replacement Project
Beginning the week of June 10, the City will reconstruct an existing fuel station at the Evanston Service Center located at 2020 Asbury Ave. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of August.
The project involves significant site work, including the installation of a new fuel island with modernized equipment, enhanced safety features, and improved environmental safeguards.
During construction, the Service Center’s Simpson Street access drive will be closed to all traffic to accommodate the contractor’s operations. All Service Center traffic must use access points on Leon Place to enter and exit the facility. View a diagram illustrating the construction work area.
View the construction bulletin.
Statement on Lead Service Line Letters
We understand that some of you may have concerns regarding the recent notice about lead service lines (LSLs) sent by the City of Evanston. We want to assure you that this notice, required by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA), does not require any immediate action from you. Your drinking water is safe. Check out this Q&A with Darrell King, Evanston’s water production bureau chief, in the RoundTable where he talks about the safety of our drinking water in detail.
