The City will begin sealing and rejuvenating areas of asphalt pavement at 13 locations the week of May 13, weather permitting. The project, which is estimated to take eight to ten days to complete, will seal approximately 25,900 square yards of pavement.
This project involves spraying a clear liquid sealant on the street. The sealant penetrates, rejuvenates, and seals the asphalt surface and binder. Once the sealant has been applied, workers will spread a coating of limestone screenings for traction while the material is absorbed. After the material has been absorbed, the street sweeper will sweep the limestone screenings and the "no parking" signs will be removed within 24-48 hours.
Drivers can expect brief street closures and traffic lane shifts in specific work zones as work crews apply the sealant/rejuvenator. The street will open for traffic approximately one hour after all steps of the application process are finished. "No Parking" restrictions, posted 48 hours in advance, will be brief and tailored to each work area. The application of the liquid sealant in each location is expected to take two to four hours to complete.
Contractor The contractor for this project is Corrective Asphalt Materials, 300 Daniel Boone Trail, Roxana, IL. The contractor is contractually responsible for the means and methods of the work.
