Evanston Man Charged with UUW and Burglary
EVANSTON, IL - On April 10, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Evanston officers were in the area of the 1400 block of Foster Street, attempting to locate a wanted subject, Camden Wall. Wall was wanted for a burglary that occurred in the 1700 block of Central in Evanston and was reported on January 23, 2024. Wall also had several arrest warrants from other jurisdictions.
Officers observed Wall walking north in the west alley of the 2000 block of Dewey. The officers attempted to stop Wall and arrest him, but he fled on foot. Officers pursued him, and a short distance later, two officers were able to apprehend Wall and take him into custody. Once in custody and secured, officers recovered a loaded Springfield XDS 45 caliber handgun from Wall’s pant leg.
Wall was transported to the police station, where the investigation continued. Wall did not have a FOID Card or Concealed Carry License and was a convicted felon. The Cook County State’s Attorney's Office reviewed the investigation into the January burglary and approved one count of burglary. The handgun possession investigation was also reviewed, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon was approved. Wall was also charged with criminal trespass to real property in relation to a separate incident in the 1700 block of Central on January 21, 2024. The outstanding arrest warrants from other jurisdictions were served.
After his arrest and while in police custody at an area hospital, Wall attempted to escape from custody by fleeing the custody of officers. Officers were able to quickly take him back into custody, and his attempt at escape was unsuccessful. Wall was charged with attempt escape from a peace officer.
