Celebrate Older Americans Month at the Aging Well Conference, Film Night and More this May
Plus, nominate an older adult for the Aging Well Award
EVANSTON, IL - Evanston community members are invited to celebrate Older Americans Month at the City’s 23rd Aging Well Conference this May. The celebration includes two events, an Aging Well Film Night on Thursday, May 9 and an Aging Well Conference on Friday, May 17. Both events are free to attend.
Aging Well Conference, May 17
This complimentary half-day conference, designed for older individuals and their care partners, offers diverse educational workshops covering crucial topics such as health and wellness, safety, nutrition, technology, legal matters, financial planning, and the arts.
Commencing with registration and a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., the conference will feature a warm welcome from Mayor Daniel Biss, and a keynote address delivered by Jevoid Simmons.
Participants are encouraged to attend two workshop sessions, with pre-registration required. Workshop registration will open on Monday, April 1. The event will culminate with a luncheon and a special ceremony recognizing the recipient of the Aging Well Award.

2024 Aging Well Award Nominations: Each year, the Evanston Aging Well Conference pays tribute to an Evanston older adult who has made an impact on the community through their interest in aging and service. Community members are encouraged to nominate an older adult for the Aging Well Award by Friday, April 12.
Transportation: Conference transportation is available through the Levy Senior Center for individuals who live in Evanston. For more information, please call 847-448-8250.
Sponsorship: The Evanston Aging Well Conference offers a variety of sponsorship opportunities for local businesses, healthcare organizations, and individuals. Sponsorship applications are ongoing.
Aging Well Film Night, May 9
The Aging Well Film Night will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m., outside of the Levy Senior Center, and will feature Live at Mister Kelly’s, a short documentary film. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food trucks will be available onsite.
Live at Mister Kelly's features luminaries including Barbra Streisand, Bob Newhart, Richard Pryor, Bette Midler and more. It is a testament to the lasting impact of renowned cultural icons and the unexpected origins of legendary musicians and comedians, and the rick cultural history of the 1950s and 1960s.
A short discussion will take place immediately after the film.
