You might already be aware that Evanston is embarking on an exciting journey towards a new Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code, guided by the community's input. Envision Evanston 2045 seeks to address various aspects, from land use to racial justice to affordable housing, to shape a collective vision for Evanston's future. All Evanston community members are urged to join in and contribute.
Join us for an evening with City planning staff who will guide us through a collaborative envisioning session. Your input is crucial, and I eagerly anticipate your presence and insights. There are also other ways to engage in this process:
Evanston Opens New Skate Park at Twiggs Park

Evanston's new skate park at Twiggs Park is open. The park has many features for the skating enthusiast including structures for vertical tricks, with rails and edges, that are found in street skateboarding. The park's layout also incorporates rain gardens and water-absorbing plants that will be introduced this spring.
Spring Bulk Trash Pickups Begin April 5
The City's Public Works Agency offers residents the free removal of up to six cubic yards of bulk garbage this spring as part of its Bulk Trash Pickup program. Spring bulk trash pickups will take place on Fridays, April 5-26, and are scheduled according to residents' normal refuse pickup day.
Pickup schedule
Bulk trash pickup for residents whose normal refuse collection day is:
- Monday will be Friday, April 5
- Tuesday will be Friday, April 12
- Wednesday will be Friday, April 19
- Thursday will be Friday, April 26
Condo buildings and residents that receive a bill from the City for refuse collection services are eligible to participate in bulk trash pickup according to the residential schedule above based on their location (view map). Condos that receive a monthly bill from the franchise waste service provider are not able to participate in the City’s bulk pickup program.
Please mark the date on your calendar, and let your neighbors know about the meeting. Working together, we can continue to make the 2nd Ward a great place to live and thrive. See you there!
