Noyes Art Gallery Presents: "Children of Our Hearts"
Come visit the new exhibition at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center and discover the Ukrainian heritage paintings by Regina Bird, titled "Children of Our Hearts". The Opening Reception will take place on Friday, March 8, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Lakeshore Shuffle
Get your running shoes ready!
On Saturday, April 27, the tranquil lakeshore will come alive with the spirited footsteps of participants in the Lakeshore Shuffle 5K Run & Walk.
Enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Michigan as you participate in the Lakeshore Shuffle 5K. This event offers a unique fusion of scenic beauty and energetic competition, catering to both seasoned runners and walkers. Join us for a morning of camaraderie, fitness, and fun, as we shuffle along Evanston's stunning lakefront path.

Plant A Flower Day
Join us in celebrating National Plant a Flower Day on Tuesday, March 12, with a fun caregiver-child flower pot decorating and planting workshop! Each adult-child pair will get a chance to decorate a large terra cotta flower pot and will receive potting soil and flower seeds to take home and plant. Please register each child as the program fee covers each caregiver-child duo. The class will be led by Ecology Center staff at Levy Center in Bobby's Room. 4th and 5th Grade Flag Football League
Coaches and school organizers are volunteers from respective schools who are responsible for scheduling their team practices. All players must be registered by Thursday, March 21. If a school cannot form a team due to a shortage of players, or if a team has already reached its maximum number of players, players will be moved to another team to ensure their participation in the league. The games will be held on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the Robert Crown turf fields, and each game will last approximately 60 minutes.Register now!
Call Out for Artists
We are seeking artists to design and produce seating for the Noyes Arts Center Gallery, with the possibility of expanding this and similar concept projects throughout the city.
Part of The Noyes Permanent Collection, these benches and seating pieces are also designed for use. See recent article in the Evanston Roundtable.

This conversation sprouted from a growing population of artists and residents gathering at The Noyes Arts Center. People are coming for programs, events, viewing the art galleries or just out of curiosity. The issue that has surfaced was simply, "Hey, can we find somewhere to sit and talk"?
People need space to create, collaborate and come together as a community. What better way to assist with this than by having artists design and create such spaces in our Recreation Centers.
Our first piece to the collection has arrived from Artist David Rubman.

This piece is a celebration of texture, uniting ash wood, brushed paints and hand chiseled artistry. Upon first appearances the composition appears to be cold hammered steel but upon engaging with it do you then realize it is a warm, carved, solid wood work. This piece was designed with the foresight time will play on its surface. As it wears the patina of the materials will slowly increase in depth and the warmth of the golden wood underneath will begin to appear. The conversations held while sitting on this bench will aid in the evolution it has been designed to create. As David always says when explaining his work, “you need to see and touch it to understand”.

Spring Break Basketball Camp
Our camp is a fun and engaging experience for boys and girls of all skill levels. You can master your basic skills and learn advanced skills as well. We offer support and motivation to help you reach your full potential. You can learn about defense, player positions, court positions, and more. So, get ready with your sneakers, wristbands, and headbands because it's time to play some basketball. Register today!
Arboretum Egg Hunt
Join us for a fun-filled day of springtime activities at the annual Arboretum Egg Hunt. Located in the beautiful landscapes of Eggleston Park, this family-friendly event promises an exciting adventure.
Be prepared to embark on a thrilling hunt through the park's winding paths and vibrant gardens, searching for hidden treasures. Children will eagerly scour the foliage for colorful eggs nestled amongst the greenery.
But the excitement doesn't end there! After the egg hunt, families can gather for various festive activities and entertainment. From face painting to arts and crafts stations, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Remember to take photos with our friendly mascot, who will wander around to spread joy and cheer. Forest School Play Group
The Forest School model provides a thrilling learning experience every day! By incorporating outdoor activities, children get to learn with their natural levels of enthusiasm and energy. They can spend long periods of time building, inventing, running, climbing, exploring nature, and using their imagination. Our program offers a drop-off option for children 3 years and older. Children under the age of 3 must be accompanied by a caregiver. You can sign up for one day or both days. To register, please call the Ecology Center at 847-448-8256 or register online.
Snapology Spring Break Camp
The morning camp will have a superhero theme, while the afternoon camp will have a Pokemania theme. You can sign up for one-hour lunch supervision to make it a full day. Please note that lunch will not be provided, so you must send lunch with your child. Register now!

March Science with Seniors
Each month, graduate students from Northwestern University visit the Levy Senior Center to discuss different science topics. This month, they will discuss the topic of "Climate Change + Reproduction and Fertility Preservation" on Thursday, March. 14, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required by calling the Levy front desk at 847-448-8250.
Forest School Play Group - Nature Play Open House
We would like to invite you to join us at Lighthouse Beach for a complimentary event called "Open House". This nature play event is focused on the Forest School model and is designed for families with children between the ages of 1.5-5 years. March Finance Series
The topic for March is "Financial Fitness- Power of Budgeting," which will explore the importance of creating and maintaining a budget, examine the difference between wants and needs, and how to set goals for personal spending, savings and debt repayment.
The Power of Budgeting is an engaging session where we will define your wants versus needs, explore saving and spending techniques, and share budgeting strategies that you can use to help reach your financial goals.
This seminar is sponsored and led by Neil Gardner of Edward Jones Financial in Skokie and is offered via Zoom. To register, please call the Levy Senior Center at 847-448-8250.

Jamming Jean Concert - Friday, March 22
Derrick Procell is a harmonica player who is a soulful singer with a baritone voice and a two-fisted piano player who drives the rhythm home. Together with his solid band, they dig deep into soul and blues.
The concert is free and open to the public on Friday, March 22, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Maple Room at the Levy Senior Center.
Hecky’s Barbecue will be on-site with the fare for cash purchases. Grab dinner from this Evanston institution, and enjoy while you tap into the tunes. A selection of wine and beer will also be available from the cash bar.
Archery Classes
Participants will learn the fundamentals of archery from experienced coach Brent Harmon, Director of Chicago Archery Coaches, a USA Archery Level 4-NTS and Regional Elite Development Program Coach. Throughout the program, participants will use the fundamentals to progress to more advanced distances and targets. Skills will be honed by playing games and other fun activities. For the parent/child class, both the parent and the child must register separately, only 1 parent and 1 child per registration. Children must be 7 years old for the parent/child class. No class on Sunday, April 14. Sign up today!
Community Mural Workshop

Ecology Spring Break Camp
Join the Ecology Center at Lighthouse Beach for Ecology Spring Break Camp. Campers will explore the natural wonders of Lighthouse Beach through a variety of games, hands-on activities, critter visits, crafts, and a field trip! Dementia Friendly Movie Night-Queen Bees
Dementia Friendly Movie Nights are presented in a unique setting with softer sound and ambient lighting for the comfort of people living with dementia as well as their caregivers and friends. Attendees are welcome to engage with the presentation, and they are encouraged to participate by expressing themselves through talking, clapping, tapping their feet, swaying, singing along, and even getting up to dance.
Twiggs Skate Park
On Saturday, April 6 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., be a part of the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at our skate park grand opening! Evanston Paints
Everyone is welcome to attend "Evanston Paints," one of four community art workshops curated by Hervé Tullet, a French artist and children's literature author, in celebration of Evanston Made's 10-year anniversary. The workshop will take place at the Robert Crown Community Center on Monday, April 13. The artworks produced during the workshop will be showcased at the Evanston Art Center's Evanston Made Member Exhibit throughout June. Songs by Heart
Therapeutic sing-alongs will be held on Fridays from Noon to 1 p.m. at the Library. The Songs by Heart program encourages people at all cognitive levels to engage with others and the world. ‘Songs by Heart’ has partnered with the Levy Senior Center to provide their first regular programs for people living outside of retirement communities at no cost. This program was designed for people with Alzheimer's or other dementias and their caregivers, but all are welcome.
Frets Away: Traveling Music Songbook
Join us tonight for an Owl Prowl! We will learn about the species of owls that live in Evanston and look at artifacts to see how their specialized ears, eyes, feathers, and talons help them find food and survive the night. We will also practice identifying different owl sounds together. At the end of our night hike, we will come together around the campfire for s'mores. Drop-in Pickleball
Visit us at the Levy Senior Center every Monday and Wednesday between Noon and 3 p.m. and on Sundays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to enjoy drop-in pickleball!
- $5 per person. Please pay at the front desk before playing
- Three lined pickleball courts are available
- Nets and balls will be provided
- Players must provide paddles
Players are responsible for organizing games and being respectful of court time. All skill levels are welcome.
Fleetwood Open Gym Schedule

Robert Crown Flea Market is now accepting vendor sign-ups
Do you have a basement, attic space, or trunk filled with items you want to rehome? The Robert Crown Community Center welcomes back its beloved flea market in the new building for the first time. Train for the Race Against Hate with the Evanston Running Club!
The Evanston Running Club invites you to join their FREE 0-5K Training Program. This 12-week walk-to-run group program will strengthen your cardio fitness through a structured plan leading up to the Ricky Byrdsong Race Against Hate on Sunday, June 16.
