While it's not here yet, it certainly felt like summer outside today! Check out some summer-related items below.
It's almost time to register for summer camps: Online summer camp registration for Evanston residents begins this Sat., Feb. 10 at 8 a.m. Need an online account? New accounts must be created 24 hours in advance.
Calling all Evanston youth ages 14-18: The Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Job Fair will take place on Sat., Feb. 17, at the Robert Crown Community Center. Students looking for their perfect summer job can register to participate through Fri., Feb. 9.
Summer employment with Parks & Rec: Even though it’s only February, the City’s Parks & Recreation Department is already planning for summer. Looking for a fun seasonal gig? Apply now for a variety of options.

Paws-itively exciting: Evanston Animal Shelter progress
Our teams have been hard at work constructing the new 8,800-square-foot Evanston Animal Shelter at 2310 Oakton Street. This pioneering facility, set to have zero on-site greenhouse gas emissions, is expected to be fully operational by mid-summer, following its completion in mid-June!

Dog Beach Passes will be available beginning February 19
Exciting news! The Evanston Dog Beach will reopen for the 2024 season on March 1. Located just south of Clark Street Beach, the dog beach will open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Remember, a valid dog beach pass is required for entry, with in-person passes available starting February 19.
Make Earth your Valentine
On February 14, the 2024 Sustain Evanston Program will begin accepting applications. Evanston-based businesses interested in making sustainable improvements to their business or commercial properties, including clean energy and composting, are eligible for up to $25,000.

New promotions in the Police and Fire Departments
Congratulations to Kenneth Carter, Anthony Correa, and Scott Sophier on their well-deserved promotions from the rank of Sergeant to Commander within the Evanston Police Department. Additionally, John Haglund and Gregory Grish from the Evanston Fire Department were recently promoted to the positions of Fire Apparatus Operator and Fire Captain.
