 Snow is here, so it's time to clear!
Now that the snow has stayed, it's a good time to refamiliarize yourself with what you should know when it snows.
Clear sidewalks and crosswalks: Property owners and occupants are responsible for clearing a path at least 36 inches wide within 24 hours after any accumulation of snow or ice.
Shoveling help available: The City's Snow Shoveling Program connects senior and disabled residents with volunteers who are willing to provide snow shoveling services.
Stay in the know: Sign up for text or email Snow Alert parking notifications online at cityofevanston.org/snow, by calling/texting 847-448-4311, or texting COE SNOW to 468311.

Opportunities for youth: Youth ages 14 to 18 can find positions with the City, local organizations, and businesses through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. Register today for the MSYEP Job Fair on February 17 at the Robert Crown Community Center.
Facilitate summer fun: Our Parks & Recreation Department has already begun hiring for summer positions, including camp staff, sailing instructors, and more. Check out open positions.

 Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks are now open! ⛸️
It's time to dust off your ice skates - outdoor ice skating rinks are finally open! The Arrington Lakefront Lagoon, Baker Park, and Ackerman Park are officially open for ice skating. Make sure to check the status of outdoor rinks through our Rainout Line before you head out.
 Join our Compensation Committee!
The City is seeking five community members to join its short-term Compensation Committee. This committee, which is formed every four years, is tasked with developing salary and benefit recommendations for the City's elected officials.
Interested? Apply online at cityofevanston.org/bcc or in person at the City Clerk’s Office. Applications must be submitted by January 31, but appointments will be made on a rolling basis beginning immediately.

No thrills on the hills! James Park sledding reminders
As a reminder, tobogganing, skiing, and snowboarding are not allowed at James Park, and sledding is prohibited on the large center hill. Because there are no attendants on duty to supervise the sled hill, participants assume all risks for any damage or injury resulting from sledding activities.
There's still time to recycle your holiday trees and lights
What to do with holiday trees: City crews will pick up holiday trees for recycling on Tues., Jan. 2 through Fri., Jan. 26 on residents' regular refuse pickup days. View tree pickup guidelines.
What to do with burned-out bulbs: Holiday string lighting and extension cords can be dropped off for recycling at the Levy Center, Ecology Center, and Robert Crown Community Center through January 31.
Learn about the Red Purple Modernization Planning Study
Join the CTA for a rescheduled virtual public meeting about the Red Purple Modernization Next Phases Planning Study on Thurs., Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. This meeting will focus on the Purple Line Evanston branch. Visit the project website for more information! Register to join.
Purple Line track renewal work scheduled
Track renewal work on the Purple Line, occurring between Main and Dempster Street Stations, will occur on select weekdays and weekends from January 22 to April 16, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The schedule aims to minimize impacts on transit riders and avoid service interruptions.
