Evanston Public Library: More Than Great Books

At the Evanston Public Library, you can find the perfect book to curl up during this holiday season, and programs that change lives.

Recently, Charles shared how EPL has helped change his life. Charles began coming to the Library at a time when he was experiencing homelessness and unemployment. He has always recognized the Library as a safe and welcoming space, and a place to find resources to support him.

Charles worked closely with Library staff Elacsha Madison and Craig Stevenson, who provided guidance and tech training for job searching and computer basics. This one-on-one support removed the barriers to job opportunities available for Charles.

"People just need these tools to get in to get these jobs," Charles explains. "Library staff have always been on time and patient. This helped a lot in my job hunt."

Charles is proud to share that he secured a great job and is grateful for the respect he received from the Library staff. Thanks to support he received at EPL, Charles was able to acheive his goal of becoming housed and employed.

EPL programs, like tech support and many more, make a real difference in our community. Your contribution to the 2023 Reimagine Campaign today will make a difference too! Every gift matters. If you have already stepped forward with a donation, we thank you! If you haven't donated yet, please take a moment and make a gift that is meaningful to you.

Thank you.

Yes I want to give!

For 150 years, the Library has provided educational, culturally-rich resources for all residents, helped children prepare for school through the joys of reading and learning, celebrated Evanston’s diversity, and helped residents find information they seek. The Library is more than a building of books; it is a place to meet, connect, learn, and explore. To learn more, visit www.epl.org.
