Evanston Police Investigate the Robberies of Three Pizza Delivery Drivers
EVANSTON, IL - The Evanston Police Department is investigating three robberies of pizza delivery drivers that took place in the 2200 block of Foster Street.
The first robbery took place on December 6, at approximately 6:40 p.m., when a delivery driver was delivering two pizzas in the 2200 block of Foster Street. The address provided to the driver did not exist, so he attempted to locate the correct address. While he was searching for the correct location, he contacted the person he believed to be the customer on the phone, who said the victim should wait and he would meet him. Two offenders approached the driver, one of whom introduced himself as the customer he had spoken to on the phone. The driver gave the offenders the price for the pizzas and requested payment. A third offender approached the victim from behind, racked the slide of a handgun, and the offenders demanded the pizza. After taking the pizza, the offenders and victim fled the area.
The second robbery occurred a few hours later, at approximately 10:00 p.m. The driver was making a delivery to a residence in the 2200 block of Foster Street. Once the driver arrived at the residence, he found a note on the door advising that someone would meet him in a few minutes. Five offenders then approached the victim. The victim was facing away from the offenders when one offender placed what the victim believed was a gun in his back. The offenders then took the pizzas along with the victim's wallet, AirPods, and iPhone. The offenders then scattered and fled in different directions.
The third robbery occurred on December 10, at approximately 11:55 p.m., when a pizza delivery driver was making a delivery in the 2200 block of Foster Street. The driver was approached by three subjects as he exited his vehicle. As they approached, an offender produced a knife and announced the robbery. The victim retreated into his vehicle while a second offender reached into the vehicle and grabbed the victim’s phone. The third offender joined the second offender in demanding the code to access the phone. The victim then fled in his vehicle.
The victims have not sustained any injuries. The Evanston Police Department is continuing its investigation.
