Celebrating the Season of Joy at EPL
The best part of my job is the joy that I see in children every day -- and sharing that joy!
-A message from Brian Wilson, EPL Librarian, Early Learning & Literacy

It's a joy to spark children's imaginations. With storytimes, sing-a-longs, playtime and more, we see the joy that our Library brings to children and families every day. At the Main Branch, Robert Crown, and in parks, camps, and events around town in the summer, and in English and Spanish, we are helping a generation of children learn to love reading. |
Our work goes well beyond what you can easily see in the Library. We work hard to cultivate a collection that is relevant and diverse so that the Evanston community will see themselves and their emotional experiences represented in the books on our shelves.

This work has developed into an annual101 Great Books for Kids list. This year, a committee of 22 EPL Librarians and staff reviewed over 3,000 new books in 2023! If you’re looking for holiday gift ideas for children in your life, check out our picks for 2023. All the books on this list are appropriate for readers two to twelve., And they're just the start of the world of stories that await the young readers who walk through our doors or meet us everywhere the Library reaches.

Your support spreads joy! Please donate to EPL today.
Why am I asking for your support today? Because tax dollars simply don't cover all our work. Even with an increase in 2024, EPL is still underfunded compared to our neighboring libraries. Every day, we librarians stretch our resources in new and creative ways, doing what it takes to put smiles on children's faces and help them love learning. We do the best we can -- and with your help, our best can be even better for Evanston's kids.
Donations support and grow our most popular and most needed programs throughout the Library. With your gift, together we can continue to spread joy now and throughout the year. Please make a gift now to support EPL!
Thank you!
Brian Wilson, EPL Children's Librarian

For 150 years, the Library has provided educational, culturally-rich resources for all residents, helped children prepare for school through the joys of reading and learning, celebrated Evanston’s diversity, and helped residents find information they seek. The Library is more than a building of books; it is a place to meet, connect, learn, and explore. To learn more, visit www.epl.org.
