City Contracts New Lighting Project at James Park, Construction to Begin in December
The City has contracted the construction of new lighting at James Park, scheduled to begin in December and expected to be completed by April 2024.
The project will provide athletic and security lighting for the existing soccer and baseball fields east of the former Recycling Center, as well as for the existing tennis courts. Athletic lighting will operate during programmed activities and reservations, while security lighting will operate nightly from dusk to dawn.
While construction activities may cause some inconveniences for adjacent residents, efforts will be made to minimize these issues. Foundation installation will involve the placement of steel pipe piles, potentially resulting in noise and vibration. To proactively address these concerns, the construction contractor will install vibration monitoring equipment.
Limited parking restrictions on adjacent roadways may be necessary to accommodate construction activities and will be indicated by temporary “NO PARKING” signs posted 48 hours in advance.
