Property Tax Bill Assistance at the Levy Center
The 2022 Second Installment property tax bills were mailed out on November 1 and the due date is December 1.
After receiving your tax bill: 1. Check your bill to see if your expected exemption is included. 2. Apply for a Certificate of Error immediately if an exemption is missing. 3. Receive a corrected Property Tax Bill in the mail.
Please make sure that you have all eligible exemptions. The Cook County Assessor’s Office offers five property tax exemptions: Homeowner, Senior (65 and older), Low-Income Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Exemption "Senior Freeze" (65 and household income of $65,000 or less), Persons with Disabilities and Veterans with disabilities.
The Cook County Assessor's Office auto-renewed the Senior Freeze exemption the prior two tax years due to the pandemic. Beginning this year, seniors who qualify for the Senior Freeze exemption (2021 household income of $65,000 or less) MUST begin to reapply again every year, beginning this year.
If you have not yet applied for the 2022 exemptions, or for missed exemptions for tax years 2018-2021, you can still submit your application online, or in person with the City of Evanston.
If you need assistance completing the form, AARP will be offering assistance at the Levy Center on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Please call 847-448-8250 to schedule an appointment.
