Good afternoon,
Read below for information about an impact to the CTA Purple Line, the Mayor's Holiday Food, Book & Toy Drive, fall yard cleanup, this year's holiday parking promotion, and more!
Local impact to CTA Purple Line
Due to a CTA Yellow Line train derailing near Howard Station in Chicago earlier today, the CTA has temporarily suspended service for both the Yellow and Purple Line trains. Power may remain off for a prolonged period. Consequently, Chicago Avenue is closed between South Boulevard and Howard Street. The CTA is working to restore service as soon as possible. For the latest updates, please visit the CTA website or the Evanston Fire Department's Twitter page.
Alternative routes are available: The CTA advises passengers to consider other service alternatives. Purple Line riders can use the #205 Chicago/Golf bus route or other adjacent bus routes. Yellow Line riders should use the #97 Skokie bus route as an alternative.
Mayor's Holiday Food, Book & Toy Drive kicks off
Let's come together to make this holiday season extra special for every Evanston family. You can help by donating new, unwrapped toys, staple food items, and new and gently used children’s books to the Mayor’s Holiday Food, Book & Toy Drive.
