Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
There are tons of excellent events happening around the city this month. Please check out the flyers below for more information.
Participatory Budgeting voting period is under way and there is another project expo on Sat., Sept. 23, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Levy Senior Center. It's a great opportunity for your voice to be heard and there are tons of interesting projects that could happen because of resident input.
I will be hosting office hours at Reprise Roasters on Fri., Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Please stop by to chat or share ideas.
As always meeting notes and materials can be found here.
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with EPL!
Hispanic Heritage Month runs September 15 through October 15, and the Evanston Public Library is celebrating throughout the month with a special collection of programming celebrating Latinx culture and supporting the Latinx community locally for all ages, from kids crafts to a 21-and-older Make Your Own Michelada evening.
Catch any of the programs happening throughout the month. Here's a sample:
Programs are bilingual (English/Spanish) unless otherwise noted.
Plus, explore Latinx-owned Evanston businesses with the Library and get entered for a chance to win. Pick up a punch card from either Library location and visit Latinx-owned businesses for a chance to win a $100 gift card!
See the full schedule and get all the details.
 Calling all cycling enthusiasts!
Join in on Sun., Oct. 1 for the City’s annual “Bike the Ridge” event. Ridge Avenue will transform into a car-free zone between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., allowing cyclists to pedal from Howard to Church Streets. After your ride, head to Ridgeville Park to enjoy music, food trucks, and bike repairs.
 Boosting our urban forest initiatives
Great news! The City has received an $802,500 Urban and Community Forestry Grant from the USDA Forest Service, which will help support a comprehensive project to improve the health and sustainability of the urban forest in our channel-side parks.
Engaging the community: The City is committed to investing in the health of our urban forest and engaging the community in these efforts through tree plantings, giveaways, and outreach materials. This grant provides a significant boost to these initiatives.
