Hispanic Heritage Month Kick Off Celebration
Join us as we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month tonight, Fri., Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. Bring your friends and family to this free event at the Fleetwood Jourdain Community Center.
Birding By Boat
Join the Ecology Center for one last canoeing program this season, as we celebrate the start of the fall bird migration season with a Birding By Boat trip! We will go on a canoeing adventure to see what birds are traveling along the North Shore Channel. Binoculars, canoes, paddles, PFDs, and paddling instruction will be provided. Each boat will also have a bird field guide, as we will work together to identify the birds that we spot. Chicago Style Stepping and Line Dance
Join Cynthia Mcfadden at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center as she teaches new and exciting line dances and Chicago-Style Stepping! Bring a friend or make new ones this fall season.
Outdoor Movie - World Alzheimer's Day
The Levy Senior Center is bringing awareness to dementia on Thurs., Sept. 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with an outdoor movie of "Keys Bags, Names, Words." September is the month where we come together to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around dementia and this year, we want to make World Alzheimer’s Month the most meaningful ever. "Never too early, never too late" aligns closely with the stories you'll see in the film, highlighting both prevention and post-diagnosis supports and interventions.

Starlight Movie - "A Man Called Otto"
Mayor Biss has declared September as National Suicide Prevention Month. In recognition, Evanston's Parks & Recreation Department and Mental Health Taskforce will hold a resource fair during the Starlight Movie in the Park on Sat., Sept. 16, at Kamen Park, featuring "A Man Called Otto."
Help is available: Due to the sensitive nature of this film, mental health advocates will be present to provide community resources. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, dial 988 for help.
Fleetwood-Jourdain's Afterschool Program
Looking for an after school program that serves your child's needs? Look no further, the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center's after school program is here to provide fun through structured activities, crafts, sports and school days out.
Calling all Zombies!
We’re looking for zombie volunteers on Sat., Oct. 21 from 3 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. to chase zombie apocalypse survivors during the 8th annual Zombie Scramble. Sign up here or scan the QR code! As a thank you, we will provide free Candelite pizza, a Zombie Scramble T-Shirt, snacks and water during the event, and a $25 stipend for a completed shift at the end of the night.
To be part of the Zombie swarm, please come with your fleshing-eating fashions and makeup and meet at the Evanston Ecology Center at 3 p.m. If you don’t have makeup, there will be some to use before heading out. We will explain all the ghoulish rules and goals, and hobble over to stage you in place for the Zombie Scramble.

Community Campfires - Nature at Night
Next stop, Penny Park! Join the Ecology Center tonight for a Community Campfire from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Spend your evenings this fall season building community with friends, family, and neighbors around a cozy campfire that will move from park to park! Enjoy exploring our parks at night, as we learn about nature in the neighborhood and make s'mores. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. Come get to know the Evanston Parks Foundation on October 14, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Walk through Noyes Cultural Arts Center to see all of the pie contest entries or head outside to play at Talmadge Park.
