Evanston Police Department Announces Labor Day Impaired Driving Campaign Results
Evanston, IL - The Evanston Police Department made one DUI arrest during the recent Labor Day impaired driving campaign. In addition, 43 seat belt citations were issued, 23 of which occurred during nighttime hours. Other citations and arrests included:
- 18 speeding citations
- 8 distracted driving citations
- 4 no insurance citations
- 4 citations for various moving violations
- 1 citation for transporting open alcoholic beverages
- 1 felony revoked driver's license arrest
- 1 misdemeanor suspended driver's license arrest
- 2 misdemeanor speeding arrests for 26MPH and 34MPH above the posted speed limit
“Through the Labor Day enforcement effort, we helped to make our roads safer and remind motorists that impaired driving is not a game,” said Evanston Police Department Traffic Unit Sergeant Scott Sophier.
EPD joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state for the Illinois Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over/Drive High. Get a DUI” enforcement campaign.
The effort was made possible by federal highway safety funds distributed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
