Evanston Fire Department to Host Emergency Preparedness Fair, September 16
 EVANSTON, IL - The Evanston Fire Department's Office of Emergency Management will host an Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, September 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Robert Crown Community Center.
The Office of Emergency Management aims to bring awareness to human created hazards and climate-related weather events, improve community resilience, and provide community members with the tools they need to minimize risks and stay safe during emergencies.
Representatives from the City of Evanston, social service agencies, non-governmental organizations, local businesses, and faith-based communities will attend the fair to offer access to resources and education, highlighting opportunities designed to build preparedness and offer assistance before, during, and after an emergency. There will also be break-out information sessions available. Those who attend a session can pick up a free preparedness kit (while supplies last).
Break-out information sessions:
- CPR classes
- Cyber security awareness and prevention
- Access Evanston tour
- Active threat management - (ALICE Training and Stop the Bleed)
- Youth preparedness activities
- Climate change, natural hazards, and basic preparedness
- Caring for older adults and people with disability
- Suicide awareness and prevention
- Substance-use disorders and Narcan administration
- Community safety principles
- Interfaith collaboration
- Emergency response planning and financial preparedness
This family-friendly event is open to the public free of charge. Registration details will be available shortly on the Upcoming Events page. Registration is strongly encouraged, but not required. Preparedness materials available at the event will also be available online on the Office of Emergency Management webpage, or at Evanston Fire Department Headquarters, located at 909 Lake Street, while supplies last.
