City to Begin 2023 Alley Improvements Project Within the Next Two Weeks
The City’s 2023 Alley Improvements project is anticipated to begin within the next two weeks and is expected to continue for the next four months.
The project includes alley improvements at various locations, the installation of traffic calming speed humps on various streets and speed bumps in various alleys, sidewalk improvements at various locations, sidewalk gap infills on Brown Avenue and Leland Avenue, and pedestrian improvements at the intersection of Asbury Avenue and Cleveland Street.
Work at each alley location is expected to last approximately five to six weeks. Vehicular access through the alley under construction, as well as access to garages and parking areas, will be prohibited once work begins. During this time, residents will be required to use street parking and street cleaning restrictions will be waived for a one block radius. Refuse and recycling collection will occur on the street side of each property while the alleys are closed.
The exact date construction activities are scheduled to begin at each location will be noted on barricades at the entrances to the alleys or on “No Parking” signs adjacent to the work areas. Additionally, construction newsletters will be distributed to all affected residents. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconveniences caused by the construction.
