Come to the Robert Crown Community Center on Thurs., August 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to give your input on the Evanston Parks and Green Space Strategic Plan. We want your assistance in determining what our parks will look in the next ten to twenty years.
Evanston Children's Theatre Summer Park Presents "James and the Giant Peach, Jr."
Tickets are now on sale for the Evanston Children's Theatre Summer Camp production of James and the Giant Peach, Jr. tonight, Fri., July 28 at 7 p.m. at the Levy Senior Center for $10! Tickets will be available at the door or order online to beat the rush!
Family Campfire
Enjoy a fun night with other families around the campfire at a Family Campfire program next weekend! Each evening will include stories, s’mores, and themed nature activities. Space is limited, pre-registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an enrolled adult. To register for this program, please call the Ecology Center at 847- 448-8256 or register online.
Summerween at Lee Street Beach
Celebrate Halloween in the summer on Sun., July 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lee Street Beach. This event is free, but beach passes are required to enter the beach. Enjoy beach games, a costume contest, and more!
Enjoy a community-filled evening
 Join the Evanston Police and Parks & Recreation Departments in celebrating National Night Out (NNO) on Tues., Aug. 1, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Centennial Park. This family-friendly evening will include an obstacle course, food trucks, games, a movie, and giveaways!
What's National Night Out? NNO is an annual community-building campaign that promotes public safety, community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to help make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Watch a Starlight Movie: The featured movie, Wonder Woman, will serve as a tribute to all the special women who are heroes in our community, including our Evanston Police Chief Stewart. The movie will begin at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear Wonder Woman attire to the event.
2023 Starlight Movies in the Park Series
 Our Starlight Movies in the Park series will feature a variety of films for the entire family. All movies will begin at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted below. Movies will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets and snacks.

Tresure Hunt
Discover the ecological treasures of Lighthouse Beach in this pirate-themed nature scavenger hunt through the dunes! Dress in your best pirate-themed attire, as we work together to find the buried treasure. Join us for stories and s’mores by the fire after you solve all of the clues. Pirate costumes are encouraged! Disco in the Park
Put on your boogie shoes and hustle on over to the Levy Senior Center on Fri., Aug. 11, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., for a night you won’t forget. Take a walk down memory lane and enjoy the best of 70’s music from our local DJ.
Local Teams Medal at National Senior Games
Eleven local women’s and men’s senior basketball teams competed at the 2023 National Senior Games, July 7-18, in Pittsburgh. Four teams brought home medals.The teams play and practice at the Levy Senior Center. For more information and pictures, click here.
Beach Wheelchairs Now Available
The City is committed to providing safe and accessible swimming beaches. This spring, the Parks and Recreation Department purchased three beach wheelchairs, which are available for free checkout. Learn more.
Afterschool Adventures at Robert Crown
Sign up for the Fall 2023 Afterschool Adventures program at the Robert Crown Community Center for afterschool care from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Free Access to Fishing
We had a great time fishing with everyone at Unplug IL Day last week! Free Access to Fishing continues tomorrow at Lovelace Park. Join the Ecology Center staff for this popular, free program on Saturday mornings throughout the summer. Equipment, bait, and fishing advice will be provided but feel free to bring your own fishing equipment or bait and we will teach you how to use it. Children under the age of 16 don't need a fishing license but must be accompanied by an adult. For participants 16 yrs or older, Illinois fishing licenses can be purchased online.
