The Main-Dempster Mile: Shop participating businesses along the Main-Dempster Mile on Sat., July 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy sidewalk sales, free activities and more! Download the map to participate in the fun.
Downtown Evanston: Downtown Evanston will host its annual Sidewalk Sale + Chalk Art Contest this weekend, where stores throughout downtown offer awesome deals at racks and tables on the sidewalks. On Saturday, artists of all ages will also create chalk art outside of local businesses.
Central Street: Head to Central Street through Sunday for the biggest sales of the year! Shop outside tables and racks filled with discounts, grab local eats, and enjoy activities and entertainment.

Head to Larimer Park on Tues., July 25 to enjoy a Starlight Concert featuring The Legendary Richard Gibbs and Band. Bring your blankets, snacks and lawn chairs! The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Enjoy a community-filled evening
Join the Evanston Police and Parks & Recreation Departments in celebrating National Night Out (NNO) on Tues., Aug. 1, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Centennial Park. This family-friendly evening will include an obstacle course, food trucks, games, a movie, and giveaways!
What's National Night Out? NNO is an annual community-building campaign that promotes public safety, community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to help make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Enjoy a Starlight Movie: The featured movie, Wonder Woman, will serve as a tribute to all the special women who are heroes in our community, including our Evanston Police Chief Stewart. The movie will begin at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear Wonder Woman attire to the event.
 Out of Space Music Fest is around the corner
In partnership with the City, Out of Space will return for its sixth season next weekend, July 27-30, turning the Canal Shores Golf Course into a concert experience. Tickets are still available for two concerts, Dawes & Lucius and Andrew Bird.

Plan for the ban, BYOBag
City Council has approved a ban on plastic bags in all city businesses and imposed a $0.10 tax on remaining bag types at large retail stores. This “Retail Single Use Bag Tax” goes into affect on August 1 with the goal of reducing plastic waste. Don't forget to bring your own reusable bags!

The "Graffiti House" is no more
 In 2022, City Council approved acquisition of seven houses at the corner of Emerson and Jackson, with plans to engage the community to create new affordable housing opportunities. On Friday, Evanston-based Wreckcon demolished the "Graffiti House". Soon the ground will be leveled, grass seed will be planted, and fencing removed.
